| When you create a new character, the game sends you a message through
the built-in Post Office. To open your mailbox, press F4 on your keyboard.
The Post Office lets you leave messages for other players, so you'll
probably use it rather often.
From this point what you do in the game is essentially up to you. You can become a fisherman, a chef, a thief, a mage, a farmer, or an expert in any of twenty-some other skills. You could go on another quest straight off, but most require your character to be stronger. Becoming stronger requires gaining experience points, which requires either fighting monsters or taming animals (the latter is not always an effective source of experience, because if you fail to tame a creature it will attack you). |
The
message will ask you to click on Skelwyn. He's near to where you start,
and is pictured to the right. Left click on him to go and have a chat.
He'll give you your first quest, from which you will receive a dagger and
twenty-five experience points (enough to get you to level 2). Lorelei will
explain how to attack and equip items, in case you didn't read the
Controls section.
