Making money in Faldon can be challenging if you don't know what is
saleable, and who to sell it to. Gathering a large stash of treasure
becomes easier when you can defeat higher level monsters that drop 5-10
gold each, but until then you need a way to buy that 20gp kite shield.
Mice and rats are an excellent
early-game source of income. You can find them at the Rat Shack, west of
Valour. Lorelei, who you've already met if you did the first quest, will
purchase their furs for three-fifths of a gold piece each. Later on, if
you want to do Robin
Cutthroat's Rodent Fur Coat quest, you will need five-hundred furs, so
be sure not to throw any away.
Lorelei is very
generous. She will also purchase snake skins, for nine-tenths of a gold
piece each. Better money, but not without reason. Snakes are significantly
harder than mice. Be sure you are at least level 3 or 4 before trying to
take them on. Also, unlike mice, snakes are aggressive, so if multiple are
nearby you may be in a lot of trouble. Penwick here is a looney.
Ten or
fifteen levels in the future, when you no longer have to flee from
skeletons, head over to eastern Wuville - turkeys are often found there.
They drop ten feathers. Fletcher will buy feathers for three-tenths of a
gold piece each, so you can rapidly accumulate enough for better armor and
weaponry. On a final note, the best-priced place to buy said armor and
weaponry is the Market. Press Shift-F4 to access it.
